President Ali Outlines Development Model for Guyana’s Future

President Dr. Irfaan Ali has articulated a comprehensive development model aimed at propelling Guyana towards a sustainable and prosperous future.

Speaking at a forum hosted by the Inter-American Dialogue in Washington, DC, President Ali highlighted key focus areas.

The government is making strategic investments in infrastructure, human resources, institutional capacity, and adaptable technology to position Guyana competitively on the global stage by 2030.

This approach includes both short-term measures for immediate results and long-term initiatives for sustained economic growth.

President Ali referenced an IDB report emphasizing the need for a $374 billion investment in various sectors to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He underscored the challenges in securing such funding and achieving the goals within the designated timeframe.

While acknowledging progress made towards SDGs in Guyana, President Ali emphasized the need for continued efforts. His administration is committed to positioning Guyana as a leader in environmental conservation and biodiversity services.

The transformation will be built on pillars like healthcare, education, information and communication technology (ICT), food security, and energy development. President Ali stressed that achieving this vision requires collective responsibility from all stakeholders.

Guyana’s journey towards becoming a leading economy is underway, with President Ali’s administration driving initiatives that aim for sustainable growth and prosperity.
