President Dr. Irfaan Ali has expressed confidence in the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) ability to effectively serve and protect the nation.
Speaking at the opening of the Police Officers’ three-day annual conference held at Police HQ, Eve Leary, President Ali emphasized the importance of strategic investments and developments to enhance the GPF’s capacity.
President Ali outlined the government’s commitment to investing in modern facilities, improving training programs, and deploying technology to bolster public confidence in the Force’s ability to maintain safety and security.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives to train police officers at various levels and disciplines, aiming to create a highly trained, competent, and qualified police force within the next few years.
Moreover, President Ali underscored the importance of regional cooperation and partnerships in policing, noting the imminent completion of the police academy, which will train officers from across the region.
He also emphasized the transition to a new era of tech policing, with investments in CCTV, digitization, and electronic ID cards to enhance efficiency and accountability.
Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken, highlighted the significance of the three-day conference in allowing the Force to reflect on its progress, challenges, and future strategies for upholding justice nationwide.
The conference, held under the theme “Transformative Unity: Nurturing Trust, Youth Development, Professionalism, and Safety through Competence and Strategic Partnerships,” aims to foster collaboration and innovation within the GPF.
The opening of the annual conference signifies a commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration within the GPF, reflecting a proactive approach to addressing evolving challenges and ensuring public safety across Guyana.
