President Dr. Irfaan Ali today addressed a group of agriculture graduates, unveiling new government initiatives designed to foster entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

The programs, aimed at graduates from institutions such as the University of Guyana and the Guyana School of Agriculture, are part of the Agriculture and Innovation Entrepreneurship Program (AIEP).

These initiatives seek to empower young professionals to establish their own agricultural businesses, focusing on modern and scientific approaches to the sector.

The President detailed plans to categorize the graduates into two main areas: poultry production and aquaculture, reflecting a strategic push to expand these critical industries.

Additionally, President Ali announced a regional development plan to convert 100 acres of land into state-of-the-art farmsteads.

This project will be a collaborative effort between the Ministries of Agriculture and Housing and the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission.

A notable aspect of the program is its inclusivity; single mothers will also be involved, aiming to boost their income and enhance their quality of life through tailored support within the agricultural sector.
