President Ali Inspects Progress on Wharf for Gas-to-Energy Project in Wales

President Dr. Irfaan Ali conducted an early morning inspection of the ongoing construction of the Wharf in Wales, West Bank Demerara.

The wharf, crucial for supporting the Gas-to-Energy project, has reached an impressive 80 percent completion rate.

During his visit, the Head of State also assessed the site earmarked for the gas-to-energy plant.

He received updates on the foundational work, including extensive sand filling, which precedes the commencement of the plant’s actual construction.

Emphasizing the significance of the Gas-to-Energy project, President Ali urged the contractors to capitalize on the favorable weather conditions and stressed the importance of completing the project on schedule.

The government awarded a contract worth 759 million US dollars to LINDSAYCA/CH4 for the integrated Natural Gas Liquids Plant and the 300-megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in Wales.

This power plant, anticipated to deliver 250 megawatts of electricity, will serve approximately 220,000 households connected to the grid.
