President Dr. Irfaan Ali has emphasized that while the integration of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), into the education system is crucial for bridging digital gaps and improving learning outcomes, it must not undermine the development of critical analytical skills in students.
During discussions on the potential incorporation of AI into the regional school system, President Ali warned that over-reliance on technology could impact students’ ability to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, research, and independent thinking.
While recognizing the benefits of technology in education, the President stressed the importance of ensuring that the current teaching methods and professional skills are not diminished in the process.
He pointed out that AI should be seen as a tool to support educators rather than replace them, assuring teachers that their role will remain vital in the classroom.
While acknowledging the high cost of implementing digital technologies in schools, the President argued that failing to invest in these innovations now would ultimately be more costly, leaving future generations unprepared for a digitalized world.
President Ali’s remarks reflect the government’s commitment to balancing technological advancements with the need for a well-rounded, self-reliant education system that prepares students for both the challenges of the digital age and the development of essential life skills.
