President Ali Foresees Guyana Leading Regional Tourism by 2030

In a significant declaration for Guyana’s burgeoning tourism sector, President Dr. Irfaan Ali has projected that by 2030, the country will emerge as a leader in diversified tourism products within the region.

The President’s remarks came during the observance of World Environment Day, where the EMC Foundation launched “The Visual Chronicles,” a coffee table book showcasing the biodiversity and pristine beauty of the Mahaica Wetlands and Mangroves.

Speaking at the launch event, President Ali emphasized Guyana’s commitment to climate change sustainability, paralleling the nation’s tourism sector’s trajectory.

He asserted that by 2030, Guyana’s tourism product would surpass any other in the region, citing the country’s infrastructure, marketing possibilities, branding, and educational initiatives as key factors driving this development.

President Ali further highlighted the significant economic and financial influence that tourism products wield for national development, underlining the pivotal role they play in driving economic growth and prosperity.

Shyam Nokta, President of the EMC Foundation, emphasized how “The Visual Chronicles” highlights the ecosystems within the Mahaica Watershed, aiming to promote better understanding, appreciation, and a sense of responsibility towards these vital ecosystems.

In attendance at the launch ceremony was tourism ambassador and British High Commissioner Jane Miller, who praised the management efforts to preserve and showcase Guyana’s hidden gems within its vast ecosystems.

EMC expressed profound gratitude to the British High Commission for their pivotal role in making the publication possible.

As Guyana’s tourism sector continues to evolve and diversify, President Ali’s vision underscores the nation’s commitment to becoming a prominent player in the regional tourism landscape by 2030.
