Georgetown, Guyana — President Dr. Irfaan Ali has officially endorsed the One Guyana Three-Stage Cycling Race, scheduled to take place this weekend, October 12-13.

This annual national cycling event aims to promote unity, sportsmanship, and excellence under the One Guyana initiative.

Cyclists from various categories, including elite and junior levels, will compete for a total prize pool of 750,000 Guyana dollars, with 500,000 allocated for the elite category and 250,000 for juniors.

The President’s approval reflects his commitment to using sports as a means to foster national unity.

Mark St. Claire, General Secretary of the Guyana Cycling Federation, expressed high anticipation for the event, noting that it will serve as a preparatory run for Guyana’s upcoming hosting of the Caribbean Cycling Championship next month.

The race will consist of three challenging stages designed to test competitors’ endurance, speed, and strategic skills.

The first stage, covering 140 kilometers, will commence from the New Amsterdam State House, head to No. 63 Village, and return to New Amsterdam for the finish.

The second stage will span 80 kilometers, starting from the roundabout on the new Schoonord to Crane Highway, proceeding to Parika Market, and returning to the roundabout for two laps along the Vreed-en-Hoop/Schoonord Highway.

The final stage will cover 60 kilometers, beginning from the Middle Street point on Main Street and concluding on Main Street.

Sponsors for this event include Star Party Rental, ENet, and VNet Communications.
