During an outreach in Nappi village, located in central Rupununi, President Dr. Irfaan Ali revealed ambitious plans for the region, surpassing the budget allocation with over $1 billion in investments.
The government’s initiatives aim to bring significant development to Region Nine communities, empowering residents to contribute to their own growth and that of their communities and the country at large.
President Ali announced the delivery of approximately 500,000 pounds of cassava to communities in the deep south of Rupununi, with an additional 500,000 pounds valued at $20 million set to be distributed to Nappi and eight surrounding villages.
Additionally, a cassava mill, costing $20 million, will be installed in Nappi to further support these communities, with operations slated to begin within 14 days.
In further support of village development, President Ali revealed plans to establish service hubs, including cultural, educational, food support integration, and mental health hubs.
These hubs aim to provide essential services and resources to residents, fostering sustainability and growth.
Residents expressed gratitude for the anticipated employment opportunities and economic benefits these initiatives will bring to the region.
The government’s commitment to investing in the development of Region Nine underscores its dedication to promoting growth, sustainability, and prosperity in Guyana’s interior communities.
