President Dr. Irfaan Ali has announced significant investments aimed at improving farm-to-market access roads in Region Two, which will boost agricultural productivity and enhance connectivity for farmers in the region.
The announcement was made during a meeting with farmers and residents in Anna Regina today.
The President revealed that the government has prioritized the construction and upgrade of approximately 12 kilometers of farm-to-market roads in several key areas of Region Two, including Affiance (1.2 km), Bush Lot (1.4 km), Maria’s Delight (1.5 km), Queenstown (1.7 km), and Dartmouth (3.6 km).
Engineers have already completed cost assessments for these projects, and work is expected to begin before the end of the year.
In his address, President Ali emphasized the importance of these infrastructure upgrades, noting that the increased agricultural production in the region has led to greater economic activity, resulting in more demand for transport services.
He assured farmers that these improvements would enhance access to markets, facilitating the movement of goods and boosting the region’s agricultural potential.
The planned infrastructure development is aligned with the government’s broader commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and driving regional economic growth.
This initiative underscores the government’s focus on improving the livelihoods of farmers and enhancing the overall economy of the region.
