President Dr. Irfaan Ali joined family, friends, and colleagues to honor the life and contributions of broadcaster Amy Yong at a moving homegoing service held at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home today.
In his tribute, President Ali reflected on Yong’s extensive involvement in national and community life, praising her deep commitment to various causes and people across the country.
“She was connected with so many different causes and people all across the country, and she took every task seriously,” he noted.
Amy Yong, remembered for her vibrant and selfless nature, was celebrated through heartfelt tributes from various figures including NCN staff, Minister of Public Affairs Kwame McCoy, and Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh.
President Ali also shared personal memories, recounting times spent with Yong during informal gatherings at her home.
“I never thought I’d be burying my baby sister. Amy was everything to me; she was my heart, my soul,” he said.
Travis Bruce, NCN Radio Manager, spoke of Yong’s infectious laugh and her invaluable contributions to NCN.
“We mourn the loss of Amy with her family and recognize her significant impact at NCN,” Bruce said.
Yong, known for hosting “The Morning Show” on 98.1 Hot FM, was remembered fondly by the NCN team and the Yong family.
A wake was held Friday night where media friends, including Gordon Moseley and government ministers, joined the celebration of her life.
