China Railway Construction (Caribbean) has started preparatory work on the new four-lane McKenzie/Wismar Bridge, a significant infrastructure project set to benefit both Linden and Region 10, as well as the entire country.

The bridge, which will span 250 meters in length and 24 meters in width, will feature modern designs, including sidewalks on both sides, and an asphaltic finish.

As part of the early stages of development, the company is establishing a concrete and steel plant at the construction site.

Civil Engineer Pavel Magin reported that they are focused on setting up essential facilities and expect to complete these preparations by the end of September.

Additionally, a detour road will be created to ensure continuous access to the current bridge during construction, minimizing disruptions for the local community.

Public Liaison Officer for the project, Abbey-Jaye Skeete, noted that the preparatory phase has been smooth with no major setbacks, highlighting the importance of the project for the region.

Around thirty Lindeners have been employed during the initial stage, with the company planning to hire more skilled workers, such as carpenters and welders, as the project progresses.

The McKenzie/Wismar Bridge is poised to become a vital link, enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth in the region and beyond.
