The General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, has unveiled significant components of the party’s proposed manifesto for the 2025 elections.
During his weekly press conference, Dr. Jagdeo highlighted a range of initiatives designed to enhance the lives of Guyanese citizens, with a central focus on improving the economy and creating better opportunities for the working class.
One of the major themes of the PPP/C’s 2025 electoral agenda is the creation of better-paying jobs for the Guyanese populace.
Dr. Jagdeo emphasized the party’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of working-class citizens by focusing on higher wages and job security.
As part of this initiative, the PPP/C plans to bolster the local labor market through various measures, including training programs, skill development opportunities, and upskilling initiatives.
These will be tailored to meet the evolving demands of the economy and the labor market.
Dr. Jagdeo also noted that the party intends to invest in new economic opportunities that will generate employment, ensuring that Guyanese people have access to well-paying jobs that will improve their quality of life.
The plan includes focusing on key sectors and large-scale projects that will create numerous job opportunities over the next five years.
Another central aspect of the PPP/C’s manifesto is the introduction of innovative “investment vehicles” that would allow a broader section of the population, particularly young people, to invest in national development projects.
These vehicles are designed to give Guyanese citizens, especially youth, a financial stake in the country’s growth.
Dr. Jagdeo explained that these investments would offer returns that are higher than what is typically available through traditional banking systems, while also guaranteeing the safety of their investments.
The plan includes government-backed financial products that will allow individuals to fund projects while earning guaranteed returns.
Through these strategic policies, the PPP/C aims to create a more robust, diversified, and resilient economy where all Guyanese have access to rewarding employment opportunities and are empowered to succeed in the global marketplace.
Dr. Jagdeo expressed optimism about the future, outlining that the party’s approach will bring long-term benefits to the people of Guyana.
