The ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) is expressing strong confidence in its ability to secure another term in office during the upcoming 2025 general elections.

Public Works Minister Juan Edghill has attributed this optimism to the government’s consistent delivery on its manifesto promises, which he believes resonates with both its traditional supporters and citizens in opposition strongholds.

During an appearance on the Freddie Kissoon Show on Wednesday evening, Minister Edghill emphasized that the PPP/C’s focus on development has positioned it favorably for re-election.

He highlighted significant achievements in sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure, underscoring the government’s track record as the cornerstone of its electoral strategy.

The minister argued that the government’s approach to equitable distribution of resources has led to an erosion of support for opposition parties like the APNU and AFC in areas traditionally considered their strongholds.

By focusing on tangible improvements and reducing reliance on divisive narratives, the PPP/C aims to encourage voters to prioritize performance over ethnic or geographic considerations.

Edghill also pointed to major projects such as the new Demerara Bridge as evidence of the government’s commitment to national progress.

With these initiatives, the PPP/C hopes to strengthen its majority in the next electoral cycle.

The 2025 general elections are anticipated in the latter half of the year, and preparations are already underway as the government sets its sights on another term.
