As the excitement builds for the 7th Prime Minister Cup softball tournament, P&P Insurance Brokers has reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Georgetown Cricket Softball League (GCSL) by pledging financial assistance once again.
The tournament, scheduled to kick off this Saturday at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, promises to be a grand affair with teams converging from both Guyana and the Diaspora.
Vikash Panday, the Executive Director of P&P Insurance, expressed his unwavering commitment to the Prime Minister Cup tournament, emphasizing its expanded scale and the diverse participation it is set to witness. He extended his best wishes to the league and all participating teams for a successful and thrilling tournament.
Furthermore, Panday asserted that P&P Insurance will continue to support such initiatives, considering them of paramount importance. He called upon fellow members of the Private Sector to join hands in promoting and sponsoring similar activities for the betterment of the community.
The tournament will encompass various categories including open, legends over 50, over 40, and women’s segments. Registration remains open for interested teams. The matches are scheduled across multiple venues, including Police, Guyana Defense Force, Queen College, Demerara Cricket Club, Muslim Youth Organization ground, Guyana Youth Organization, and Lusignan grounds.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Sport. Alongside P&P Insurance Brokers, other sponsors include Blue Spring Water, Banks DIH, Regal Stationery, and Rajiv Gandhi University, among others.
For the benefit of enthusiasts worldwide, all matches will be streamed live, and scores will be updated in real-time through the Cric-Heroes app. The tournament is set to run from September 29th to October 1st.
Cash prizes await the victors, with the open, legends, and men over 40 categories vying for a substantial $600,000, while the women’s segment competes for an enticing $200,000. The grand finale will be held under the illuminating lights of the Demerara Cricket Club’s ground.
