An officer at the Constabulary of the Linden Mayor and Town Council (LM&TC) has been placed on administrative leave as police investigate allegations of the misappropriation of funds.
The newly appointed Town Clerk, Lennox Gasper, has expressed concerns and is taking steps to implement systems to address the issue.
While the exact amount involved was not disclosed, Town Clerk Lennox Gasper mentioned that a significant sum cannot be properly accounted for.
The police have been called in to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Gasper emphasized that accountability is paramount, and any officer found to have breached the law will face consequences.
In response to the situation, Gasper highlighted the dual role of the council as policy makers and administrators.
He stressed that any authorization for construction or similar activities must be granted by the council’s administration.
Gasper also urged cooperation between the council and the central government to maintain the municipality’s integrity.
This development comes as the LM&TC works to address issues of financial integrity and governance within its ranks.
