Over the weekend, Police FC and Fruta Conquerors emerged victorious in the latest matches of the KFC Elite League held at the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Center.
In a tightly contested match, the Guyana Police Force FC maintained their 3rd place position on the KFC Elite League table with a 2-0 victory over Santos FC.
The first half saw both teams struggle to break through each other’s defenses, resulting in a goalless stalemate.
However, former tournament MVP Nicholas MacArthur, who came on as a substitute for Police FC, made an immediate impact by scoring in the 74th minute.
Neron Barrow sealed the win for Police FC with another goal in the 90th minute, securing a 2-0 victory.
In the other match, former Elite League champions Fruta Conquerors secured an upset victory over Western Tigers.
Tsekedi Sealey opened the scoring for Fruta Conquerors in the 28th minute, giving them the lead.
Despite Western Tigers’ efforts to equalize, Samuel Garnett managed to score for them in the 56th minute.
However, Fruta Conquerors regained the lead with Makhaya Jervis scoring in the 68th minute, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory.
