In a stern message, Commander Raphael Rose of Region 9 has issued a warning against smuggling activities across the border between Guyana and Brazil.

The commander emphasized the importance of adhering to customs and immigration laws to maintain order and security along the border.

He cautioned individuals against attempting to smuggle goods into the country for commercial purposes, urging them to respect regulations and avoid potential penalties.

According to Commander Rose, while border towns may have relaxed regulations on certain goods for domestic use, travelers should refrain from smuggling items in commercial quantities.

He advised travelers to Boa Vista to purchase goods for domestic use only to avoid encountering security checks upon their return.

Furthermore, Commander Rose urged travelers venturing beyond the free zones to carry proper documentation, including passports, as they will encounter immigration checks along the way.

He emphasized the importance of cooperating with both Guyanese and Brazilian authorities to ensure a smooth and legal journey.

Commander Raphael Rose’s message underscores the significance of following the law and respecting border rules for the safety and well-being of both locals and visitors alike.

By adhering to customs and immigration regulations, individuals can contribute to a thriving and secure community along the Guyana-Brazil border.
