The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) has welcomed the government’s decision to extend the distribution period for the $100,000 cash grant, ensuring that eligible citizens can collect their payments beyond the initially specified dates.
During a PNCR press conference today, Opposition Member of Parliament Ganesh Mahipaul addressed concerns about the authorization process for grant collection.
He acknowledged the government’s initiative, particularly Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo’s assurance that individuals who had traveled abroad or to remote areas would still be able to access their cheques upon their return.
Previously, at a weekly press conference in December, Dr. Jagdeo had emphasized that the government was committed to ensuring all registered Guyanese receive their grants, regardless of temporary absences.
He reiterated that the goal was to make the process as inclusive and accessible as possible.
Amid ongoing distribution efforts, Dr. Jagdeo has indicated that the Ministry of Finance will focus on simplifying the process to ensure timely completion.
The grant distribution will continue in Regions Three and Four in the coming days.
