The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) is actively engaging in coalition talks with other political parties as it prepares for the 2025 general and regional elections.

Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton confirmed these developments during a press conference, stating that the party has held discussions with several groups, including the Alliance for Change (AFC).

Norton highlighted that the PNCR’s congress and executive committee have both approved forming coalitions, and discussions with AFC representative Nigel Hughes are ongoing.

The PNCR also indicated its willingness to collaborate with any party, except the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP).

Norton further acknowledged internal challenges within the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), which were also part of the discussions during coalition talks.

Meanwhile, PPP General Secretary Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo dismissed the coalition talks as inconsequential.

He referenced the 2020 elections, where a coalition of 16 political parties under the APNU+AFC banner was unable to secure victory against the PPP.

Jagdeo assured PPP supporters that the party remains confident in its position.

The general and regional elections are slated for the latter half of 2025, with political parties beginning preparations for the electoral contest.
