Georgetown, Guyana – Acting President and Prime Minister, Retired Brigadier Mark Phillips, underscored Guyana’s emergence as a key player in the global energy sector during his keynote address on the third day of the 2025 Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo.

Phillips emphasized that Guyana’s rise in the energy sector aligns with a broader international push toward sustainable energy solutions.

As a developing oil-producing nation, Guyana is strategically positioned to contribute to global energy security while advancing its own sustainable development goals.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to stable and affordable energy for all Guyanese, Phillips outlined ongoing initiatives to enhance the country’s energy infrastructure.

He highlighted a $7.9 billion investment dedicated to solar energy expansion, hydropower revitalization, hinterland electrification, and large-scale solar projects aimed at reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Additionally, Phillips stressed the positive impact of these developments on local businesses, entrepreneurs, and citizens.

He noted that investments in energy will not only create jobs but also provide greater access to essential resources, fostering economic empowerment and long-term prosperity.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of private sector investments and industry leaders in ensuring that Guyana’s energy wealth translates into lasting economic benefits.

He emphasized that events like the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo serve as crucial platforms for fostering partnerships and driving strategic growth in the sector.
