The government remains committed to ensuring that all eligible Guyanese receive the $100,000 cash grant, Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips reiterated on Monday.
During the Parliamentary Committee of Supply’s examination of budget estimates and expenditures under the Office of the Prime Minister, PM Phillips defended the over $40 billion allocated for the grant’s distribution.
He assured that the remaining payments would be completed as soon as possible.
“So far, we have distributed some 121,000 cash grants of $100,000 each, and we will continue paying the people,” the Prime Minister stated.
To expedite the process, additional distribution centres have been established across various communities to ensure efficient and timely delivery of checks to all eligible citizens.
“Basically, we are in the final phase of ensuring that every qualified individual receives their payment,” PM Phillips added.
The Prime Minister further emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining accountability and transparency in the distribution process.
With the majority of payments already completed, the government is working to finalize the remaining disbursements, reaffirming its dedication to providing financial relief to Guyanese citizens.
