As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three-day visit to Guyana wraps up, the engagement between India and Guyana has sparked widespread discussions on the opportunities it holds for the developing nation.
During his visit, the Prime Minister’s interactions with various sectors have fueled optimism regarding future growth in education, healthcare, business, and diplomacy.
NCN’s Saskia Warrick spoke with students, professionals, and key stakeholders who shared their positive perspectives on the visit.
Keshav Hansraj, a student, described the experience as “great,” highlighting the importance of the partnership between India and Guyana.
He emphasized the potential for Guyana, as a developing country, to gain recognition on the global stage through this relationship.
Romel Paul, another student, echoed these sentiments, noting that this was his third time attending a parliamentary session.
He found the visit informative and appreciated the Indian Prime Minister’s focus on youth leadership, which aligns with Guyana’s future aspirations.
Beyond the educational sector, professionals in key industries are already anticipating tangible benefits. Robbie Rambarran, CEO of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), reflected on the long-standing relationship between India and Guyana, particularly in healthcare.
He noted that many specialists in Guyana’s medical field were trained in India, and with the recent memorandum of understanding signed between the two nations, Guyana is poised to expand its medical capacities, including opening new specialized services.
Peter Ramsaroop, CEO of Go Invest, highlighted the alignment of Prime Minister Modi’s focus on democracy, youth, and women with President Irfaan Ali’s vision for Guyana’s future.
Ramsaroop looks forward to significant growth in investment over the coming years, particularly in areas such as business and diplomacy.
The positive reactions underscore the promise of an evolving partnership between India and Guyana, offering substantial opportunities for both nations’ futures.
