Pitbulls Clinch GCB T10 Blast Title

In a thrilling showdown at the Enmore ground, East Coast, Demerara, the Demerara Pitbulls emerged victorious over the Essequibo Jaguars to claim the inaugural championship title in the Guyana Cricket Board’s T10 Blast.

Led by Christopher Barnwell, the Pitbulls secured a nail-biting two-wicket win against the Jaguars in the final match of the tournament.

The Jaguars got off to a rocky start, losing three wickets within the first two overs of the game.

However, Kevon Jawahir and Dwayne Dick orchestrated a recovery with some quick runs, supported by Seon Glasgow’s contribution of 21 runs from 13 balls.

The Pitbulls’ bowling attack, spearheaded by Leon Swamy with figures of two wickets for five runs in two overs, and Kevon Sinclair, who took two wickets for 21 runs, restricted the Jaguars to a total of 97 runs.

In response, the Pitbulls chased down the target with determination, reaching 101 runs in just 9.3 overs.

Junior Sinclair led the charge with a blistering 36 runs from 15 balls, earning him the title of Man of the Match.

Damian Vantull and Sachin provided valuable support with scores of 22 and 13 respectively.

Despite a valiant effort from the Jaguars’ bowlers, including Nial Smith, Ashmead Nedd, and Dwayne Dick, who each claimed two wickets, the Pitbulls emerged victorious and claimed the coveted championship title.

Earlier in the day, the Essequibo Jaguars and the Demerara Pitbulls secured their spots in the final by defeating the Essequibo Anacondas and the Berbice Caimans, respectively, in the semifinals.

With this thrilling victory, the Pitbulls have etched their name in the annals of Guyana cricket history, solidifying their status as the inaugural champions of the GCB T10 Blast.
