The Petra Organisation has achieved a significant milestone by being granted membership into the Friendly Society of Guyana.
Established in 2012, the Petra Organisation has been instrumental in bridging the gap in school football programmes across primary and secondary schools, receiving support from both the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Football Federation.
During a certification presentation ceremony held at the Ministry of Labour, Chief Cooperative Development Officer Janaknauth Panchu warmly welcomed the Petra Organisation into the Friendly Society.
In response, Co-Director of Petra, Marlon Cole, expressed gratitude for the approval of their membership and highlighted the importance of joining the society.
He emphasized that membership in the Friendly Society of Guyana will enable Petra to create more avenues for youth development through sports.
Membership in the Friendly Society grants the Petra Organisation access to various benefits, including increased sponsorships, donations, tax exemptions, and grants, among other forms of assistance.
Additionally, as a member, Petra is obligated to adhere to the constitution governing the Friendly Society.
This includes the responsibility to present annual financial reports for scrutiny and verification, thereby promoting democratic practices within the organisation.
This achievement signifies a significant step forward for the Petra Organisation in its mission to foster youth development through sports, particularly football.
