GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – President Irfaan Ali and Pegasus Hotel owner Robert Badal officially broke ground for a new 13-storey, internationally branded, five-star hotel, marking a significant expansion of the country’s hospitality sector.

The new hotel, which will be constructed between the Pegasus Corporate Suites and the original Pegasus building, is designed to blend modern luxury with the hotel’s longstanding heritage.

The project will require the demolition of parts of the existing Pegasus Poolside and Grand Savannah Suite to make way for the development.

Once completed, the hotel will feature 170 executive rooms, a gym on the third floor, an executive lounge on the 13th floor, and a penthouse offering panoramic views of the city.

The investment is expected to enhance Guyana’s tourism and hospitality landscape while contributing to economic growth.

President Ali commended the project as a bold step in adding value to Guyana’s infrastructure and national assets.

The expansion reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s appeal as a prime business and tourism destination.

Construction is expected to commence soon, with completion anticipated within two to three years.

The Pegasus Hotel, originally established in 1969, was Guyana’s first international-standard hotel and continues to play a key role in shaping the local hospitality industry.
