Patrick Prashad and Patanjilee ‘Pur’ Persaud delivered outstanding performances to secure top finishes in the highly competitive A-Class of the Suriname Golf Open, held over the weekend in Paramaribo.
Prashad claimed the coveted A-Class title with a gross score of 79, off a handicap of 13, finishing with an overall net of 142.
Reflecting on his victory, Prashad expressed pride in his achievement, emphasizing the honor of representing his country.
Patanjilee Persaud also impressed, securing fourth place with a gross score of 86, and a net score of 144, also with a handicap of 13, in the two-day competition.
Other members of Team Guyana in the A-Class included Avinash Persaud (6th), Mohanlall Dindanauth (10th), Vishal Dhanai (15th), and Lakeram Ramsundar (25th).
In the B-Class, Brian Hackett earned second place with a gross score of 88 and a net of 136, playing off a handicap of 19.
The C-Class saw Guyana’s highest finish of fourth place by Troy Cadogan with a gross of 99 and a net of 149. Orson Ferguson placed 9th.
Carlos Adams, Guyana’s best finisher in the Senior Class, claimed fourth with a gross score of 105, from a 22 handicap, and a net of 152.
His performance was further highlighted by winning the longest drive in the Senior category.
The Lusignan Golf Club has been a long-time participant in the tournament, now gearing up to defend their home turf at the Brava Guyana Open, set for November 2-3, 2024, with competitors from the Caribbean, Suriname, the USA, and Canada.
