The Ministry of Public Works has advised that a section of the Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara River Bridge will be partially closed this weekend to facilitate critical construction works.

According to a public notice issued, the outer lane of the eastbound carriageway will be temporarily closed on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
The Ministry explained that the closure is necessary to support the removal of tower cranes from the main cable-stayed bridge as works progress on the new structure.
Motorists are being urged to exercise caution, pay attention to traffic control signs, and prepare for minor delays during the scheduled hours.
The Ministry has apologized for any inconvenience the temporary disruption may cause and thanked the public for its cooperation as the project advances.
