More than 300 residents are now one step closer to homeownership following a house-lot distribution exercise conducted by the Ministry of Housing, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) in Region 5. The exercise follows Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo’s recent public day , during which residents raised housing-related concerns and sought assistance in securing house lots.
Residents were allotted low, moderate and middle income lots at Track A Waterloo and Track C Experiment in Bath, ensuring that families across various income brackets could benefit.
The distribution exercise, held at the Regional Housing Office, was met with excitement as a allotties expressed gratitude for the opportunity to secure a house lot and move one step closer to home ownership.
One beneficiary, Keisha Halley, said, “I have a lot of land now. I am very glad. I am very happy.”
“I have been applying for this land since 2024. I feel proud and happy that I get to build a house with me and my kids,” Ronetta Moore said.
“I was excited because I have tried many times, and I haven’t gotten throughWhen I received the call that I was supposed to come here, it was very delightful, very joyful. We can move from here to start whatever we have to do to start better,” Ameer Khan said.
The government is also supporting lotties through initiatives such as the Steel and Cement Subsidy, assistance to begin house foundations, and other programs aimed at helping vulnerable families improve their living conditions.
