On Wednesday, a total of 163 Guyanese individuals marked the successful completion of their training at the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC), acquiring a diverse set of technical skills.
The graduation ceremony took place at the National Cultural Centre, where the Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, addressed the graduates.
Minister Hamilton urged the graduates to leverage their newly acquired qualifications for personal and national development, emphasizing the importance of becoming employed with their newfound skills.
He stressed that success stems from discipline, focus, and responsibility, and encouraged those aspiring to start their businesses.
Deputy Chief Education Officer, Technical, Ritesh Tularam, also addressed the graduates, urging them to view the completion of their training not as the end but as a stepping stone to further advancement.
He emphasized the importance of maximizing opportunities for continuous growth and development.
The 163 graduates received certificates in various technical fields, including Electrical Installation, Furniture-Making, Metalwork Engineering, Motor Vehicle Repairs, Plumbing, Welding and Fabrication, and Masonry.
Their achievements contribute to the pool of skilled individuals in Guyana, enhancing the workforce and fostering economic development.
This graduation follows the trend of continuous skill development in the country, with 4,444 individuals having graduated from the Board of Industrial Training earlier in the year.
The emphasis on technical education and skills training aligns with national goals to empower individuals, strengthen the labor market, and contribute to overall progress.
