Over 1,500 Teachers Graduate from CPCE in Historic Ceremony

A total of 1,502 teachers graduated from the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) in a historic ceremony held earlier today at the Providence Stadium.

This 90th graduation exercise marks the second-largest cohort of teachers to be inducted into Guyana’s education system, contributing significantly to the government’s effort to achieve universal education.

Prime Minister, retired Brigadier Mark Philips, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation.

He praised the graduates for choosing a profession that impacts generations and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting educators and improving the overall education sector.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Philips emphasized the transformative power of education, urging the graduates to continue nurturing the brilliance in every child, encouraging them to think critically, dream boldly, and reach beyond their limits.

He reminded them that their work is not just important, but essential in shaping the future of Guyana, one lesson at a time.

The graduation ceremony saw 251 teachers completing the secondary TVET program, 602 graduating in primary education, 169 in secondary academic education, and 444 in early childhood education.

Fiona Sharma of Recht-Door Zee on the West Coast of Demerara was awarded the prestigious President’s Award for Best Overall Graduating Student.

The event celebrated the dedication and hard work of the graduates and marked a significant step towards strengthening the nation’s education system.
