The West Central Mall Theatre reached maximum capacity on Saturday evening as more than 120 entrepreneurs, professionals and business-minded citizens gathered for “Untapped Waters: Investment Opportunities in Region 3,” a high-impact business forum hosted by ECONOME in collaboration with the Region 3 Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The overwhelming turnout underscored the growing national interest in Region Three as one of Guyana’s most promising economic frontiers. The event created a dynamic platform for practical discussion on investment, enterprise development, procurement opportunities, and long-term regional growth.

The programme featured contributions from key leaders and stakeholders, including Hon. Thandi McAllister, Mr. Michael Munroe, Director of the Local Content Secretariat, John Edghill, Senior Director of Investment at GO-Invest, Mr. Theon Alleyne, Secretary of the Region 3 Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Khishan Singh, Junior Vice President of the Guyana Youth Entrepreneurship Chamber.

One of the evening’s standout moments came from John Edghill, whose presentation painted a compelling picture of Region Three’s economic potential. He highlighted the region’s strategic transformation through infrastructure expansion, housing growth, industrial development, logistics corridors, and increasing population movement. His insights emphasized that Region Three is no longer simply a transit region, but an emerging economic zone with significant investment promise.

Mr. Edghill outlined that opportunities are rapidly forming across multiple sectors as development accelerates. He pointed to expanding prospects in logistics and warehousing, agro-processing and export services, housing and community support businesses, mobility and vehicle services, tourism ventures, and industrial support services linked to the Wales development corridor. He stressed that enterprises best
positioned to succeed will be those that save time, make life easier, and consistently deliver value for money.

Michael Munroe, Director of the Local Content Secretariat, also delivered valuable insights on navigating procurement pathways, qualification requirements, and how Guyanese businesses can strategically position themselves for opportunities tied to national development.

Founder of ECONOME, Matthew Gaul, noted that the event forms part of a wider mission to decentralize opportunity and bring high-level business conversations directly into communities across Guyana.

“Too often, opportunity is discussed only in Georgetown. We wanted to show that serious growth conversations belong in every region, especially Region Three, where transformation is visibly underway.”
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session and networking segment, where attendees engaged speakers directly and explored possible next steps for investment and collaboration.
With a full theatre, strong audience engagement, and positive feedback from participants, Untapped Waters has already been regarded as one of the most impactful regional business forums held this year
