Over 100 Small Miners Unite for Ambitious Mining Venture at Troy Resources Facility

In a move to revive economic activity and leverage dormant assets, mining operations are set to recommence at the Troy Resources facility in Karouni, Region Seven.

This facility, which ceased production after the closure of the Australian-headquartered company in August, is poised for a new era of productivity.

President Irfaan Ali has unveiled plans for a collaborative mining project, involving over 100 small-scale miners. This consortium effort aims to reinvigorate operations at Troy Resources and ensure sustained production.

President Ali underscored the significance of this endeavor, drawing parallels with the recent success of the eco-lodge project led by 100 women in just two months. He urged hinterland communities and the broader Guyanese populace to embrace similar collaborative ventures, emphasizing their potential for achieving collective prosperity.

“Our hinterland communities must work together. If you have 5 villages along the river, you must come together to build one common tourism product that can give five different experiences in the same product,” President Ali emphasized.

He further advocated a shift from conventional approaches to wealth-building, urging individuals to explore the opportunities presented by collective consortium activities.

This ambitious mining project not only promises economic revitalization for the region but also stands as a testament to the potential of collaborative efforts in propelling Guyana’s development.
