On Tuesday, over 100 children were celebrated for successfully completing the Zara Computer Summer program at the Wismar Police Station.

This free four-week course, offered in partnership with the Guyana Police Force Regional Division 10, Zara Group of Companies, and the Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation, provided students aged 6 to 16 with foundational and advanced training in computer technology.

The summer program, which began on July 15 and concluded on August 9, 2024, was designed to introduce young learners to the basics of computer science and technology.

The Zara Computer Centre at the Wismar Police Station served as the venue for this initiative.

Ronasha Greene, Center Administrator at Zara Computer Centre, highlighted the benefits that the graduates gained from the program.

She emphasized that the exposure to technology has significantly contributed to the students’ skills development and nurtured their talents.

Sylvia Sobhraj, co-founder of the Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation, congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to remain determined and focused in their future endeavors.

The graduation ceremony was attended by notable figures including Superintendent Guy Nurse, Commander of Regional Police Division #10, and Assistant Superintendent Gladwin Hanover, Coordinator of the GPF-ZARA Centres.

Feedback from students and parents praised the program for its effective execution, with students expressing pride in their new skills and parents commending the program’s impact on their children’s education.

The Zara Computer Centres continue to play a vital role in providing quality and accessible IT training across communities in Guyana, reinforcing the commitment to enhancing digital literacy among youth.
