Orealla and Siparuta Residents Vote for New Village Council

Today, residents of Orealla and Siparuta participated in the election for a new Village Council.

A total of 1,142 eligible voters were registered, with 864 in Orealla and 278 in Siparuta.

The voting process began smoothly this morning in these riverine communities located in Region Six.

Many residents turned out at polling stations to cast their ballots for a Toshao and councilors who will oversee the governance of the two communities.

Residents emphasized the significance of this year’s election, expressing their desire for change within the community.

Regional Executive Officer Narindra Persaud, who is acting as the Returning Officer, confirmed that all necessary preparations were in place for a successful election.

Four candidates, including the incumbent Toshao, are vying for the leadership of the new Village Council, while 30 residents have been nominated to serve as councilors.
