One Guyana Squash Presidents Cup: Lowe/Verwey, Wiltshires, Arjoon/Khalil Claim Wins

The One Guyana Squash Presidents Cup at the new doubles court on Woolford Avenue was a thrilling showcase of skill and resilience, with doubles teams across various categories delivering exciting matches.

In the junior mixed doubles, Kaylee Lowe and Nicholas Verwey made an impressive start, defeating Blake Edwards and Rylee Rodrigues 11-2, 11-4.

They later faced Michael Alphonso and Paige Mendonca in a tougher contest.

After losing the first game 6-11, Lowe and Verwey came back strong, winning the next two games 11-8, 11-3 to secure another victory.

The Women’s Doubles saw a dominant performance from the Wiltshire sisters, Akeila and Larissa, who convincingly defeated Victoria Arjoon and Taylor Fernandes-Henry 11-5, 11-5.

Their exceptional coordination and precision made them strong contenders for the title.

In the Men’s Doubles, Alex Arjoon and Jason-Ray Khalil played one of the most intense matches of the day, edging past Nicholas Verwey and Michael Alphonso.

After dropping the first game 10-11, Arjoon and Khalil rallied to win the next two games 11-7, 11-10 in a thrilling contest that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

The action continues until Saturday, December 21.
