One Guyana Futsal Championship Kicks Off with Dominant Wins from Top Teams

The inaugural One Guyana Futsal Championship officially began on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium, with Bent Street ‘B’, Festival City, Albouystown ‘A’, Stabroek Ballers, and Sparta Boss securing commanding victories in their opening matches.

The tournament, featuring 64 teams, will see fierce competition over the next few weeks for a grand cash prize of 1.5 million dollars.

In the opening match, Bent Street ‘B’ edged out a narrow 1-0 win over their opponents, with a late goal from Anthony Gaskin.

The second match ended in a walkover, as Money Bell failed to show up for the clash.

Albouystown ‘A’ fought back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Sophia Ballers 3-2 in the third encounter.

The remaining matches of the evening saw dominant performances, with Stabroek Ballers dismantling Mighty Rulers 8-2 and Sparta Boss delivering an impressive 12-0 victory over Melanie.

Minister of Sport Charles Ramson Jr. officially opened the event, commending organizers Kashif and Shanghai for their continued contributions to football.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the growth of sports in the country.

Event organizer Kashif Muhammad expressed satisfaction with the support received from various stakeholders, while CEO of the Guyana Energy Conference, Kiana Wilburg, shared insights into the organization’s plans to contribute to sports development.

Action continues Thursday, with five more matches scheduled for the National Gymnasium, starting at 7:30 PM.
