‘One Guyana Diwali Jalsa’ seeks to attract diaspora, will become annual event (Newsroom)

The One Guyana Diwali Jalsa concluded over the weekend in Region Six, marking the end of five nights of cultural celebrations.

The event, held at the Corriverton Recreational Park, featured a packed program including songs, poems, dances, and various cultural performances, showcasing the best of Berbician talents.

Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, addressed the gathered crowd on the final night, expressing his pleasure at the significant turnout, especially among the youth attending with their parents and grandparents.

He highlighted that the initiative, a brainchild of President Irfaan Ali, aims to celebrate the themes of Diwali—light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

Dr. Singh encouraged those present to recommit themselves to the ideals and lessons of Diwali, extending Diwali greetings on behalf of the president.

The venue featured several booths selling a variety of foods and cultural items, and a mandir was set up in the center of the park for religious reflection.
