Omni Helicopters Guyana Celebrates 1st Anniversary with Search and Rescue Initiative

Omni Helicopters Guyana Inc, in collaboration with Exxon Mobil, celebrated its first anniversary, reflecting on significant milestones achieved in the aviation sector.

One notable achievement is their commitment to providing training opportunities for young people, with a recent focus on search and rescue operations.

Gerry Gouviea Jr, a pilot at Omni Helicopters Guyana Inc, highlighted their dedication to working with the Guyanese community to provide opportunities in operations dispatch, aviation security, and, most recently, search and rescue.

Six Guyanese individuals successfully completed rigorous training to become search and rescue technicians, playing a crucial role in life-saving efforts.

Lt Col Egbert Fields, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), applauded Omni Helicopters for their milestone and continuous contribution to the aviation sector.

He expressed pride in the equipment acquired by Omni and Exxon, stating that it enhances the country’s search and rescue capacity.

The GCAA’s upcoming audit will benefit from this improved capability.

Omni Helicopters Guyana Inc commenced operations in Guyana on January 1, 2023.

In its first year, the company recorded 2,300 flights, transporting over 50,000 passengers.
