Olympic Hopeful Shamar Britton Exits Pan Am Games Singles, Vows to Push Harder

Guyanese table tennis prospect Shamar Britton’s campaign at the Pan American Games has concluded after a hard-fought singles match.

Despite the setback, Britton remains determined and is now focused on intensifying his training to achieve his goals.

Facing off against Daniel Gonzalez in the round of 32, Britton showed resilience after dropping the first set 4-11.

He rallied back, displaying a commendable effort, but ultimately succumbed in the subsequent sets, with scores of 8-11, 8-11.

However, he managed to secure the fourth set with a score of 11-6 before ultimately losing the final set 3-11.

In a partnership with Olympian Chelsea Edghill, Britton also competed in the Mixed Doubles event.

The duo exhibited great determination, but they were ultimately defeated by Hector Gatica and Mabelyn Enriquez of the Independent Athletes Team (Guatemala) with a final score of 1-4 (8-11, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 8-11).

Meanwhile, Chelsea Edghill’s singles match-up against Mexico’s Yadira Silva in the round of 32 is currently underway.
