In celebration of Amerindian Heritage Month, the Office of the Prime Minister organized an event today to honor the rich culture and contributions of Indigenous people in Guyana.
The festivities showcased a variety of Indigenous crafts, dances, music, sports, and traditional cuisine, fostering engagement and appreciation among attendees.
Prime Minister Mark Phillips addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of respecting and valuing Amerindian culture.
He affirmed the government’s dedication to the development of Indigenous communities and encouraged all Guyanese citizens to learn about the vital contributions of Amerindian people to the country’s history and identity.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the government’s commitment to development extends beyond infrastructure projects to encompass the overall advancement of Amerindian peoples.
As part of the ongoing Heritage Month activities, the celebrations will continue with events, including the Amerindian Heritage Village, scheduled to take place in Campbelltown, Region 8, on Saturday.
This month-long observance aims to raise awareness and promote the rich traditions of Guyana’s Indigenous communities.
