The Oncology Clinic of the Georgetown Public Hospital today held a pinning ceremony to honour survivors and patients currently battling cancer, as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The moment was a powerful reminder of strength and solidarity.
Each patient was pinned in recognition of their courage, surrounded by fellow patients, doctors, nurses, and staff who provide care and support throughout their journey, from screening to treatment.
GPHC CEO, Navindranauth Rambarran, said, “It is encouraging to know that for me Department of oncology is one of those department that seems to have to right formula With regards to the staff we have the set of staff, the team ,the expertise the competence and also the empathy I call that the right formula so far as our patience, you can be very courageous and be prepared to faces this if we don’t have a team that is willing to work with you in that way, and to support you. It can be a very lonely journey.”
At the Ceremony Survivors and fighters took turns sharing their testimonies, speaking of their experiences with the disease and the road they have travelled.
Among them was a male survivor, now cleared of cancer, a reminder that the disease can affect anyone.
For those still in treatment, the ceremony was a reminder that they do not walk the road alone. For those who have come through it, it was a celebration of survival and proof that there is hope after a diagnosis.
