Nestled at 46 Norton Street between Haley and Hardina Streets in Wortmanville, the newly opened Norton Wine House is set to elevate Guyana’s culinary and beverage scene.
Owned by Matthew Hardin, a Guyanese who spent several years in Portugal, the establishment caters to a growing interest in fine wines among locals and expatriates.
Hardin explained that his wine selection reflects the diverse palates of Guyanese and international patrons.
“The main thing was trying to get good flavors for Guyanese people. We have a combination from sweet wines to dry wines, reds, rosés, sparkling wine, for all occasions,” Hardin said.
In addition to its wine offerings, the Norton Wine House includes a wine bar, which opened to the public on Saturday, and plans to introduce fine dining and rental space options.
Hardin emphasized a shift towards a lifestyle that embraces more refined drinking experiences.
“This is the lifestyle that’s coming, so we are trying to ease off the heavy liquor and get something that we can still manage and be functional with,” he added.
The Norton Wine House is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Interested persons can find more information on their social media pages.
