Northeast Wins Inaugural One Guyana President’s Cup Futsal Tournament

The Northeast team emerged victorious in the inaugural One Guyana President’s Cup futsal tournament, securing their prize money on Monday.

They clinched the title with a dramatic win over Bent Street, defeating them in a thrilling final held at the National Gymnasium over the weekend.

The futsal competition was part of a broader event featuring six different sporting disciplines.

At a prize-giving ceremony hosted by the National Sports Commission, Assistant Director of Sports Franklyn Wilson praised the high level of competition and the efforts of all participants.

Director of Sports Steve Ninvalle also expressed satisfaction with the event’s organization and the athletes’ performances, encouraging all involved to prepare for next year’s tournament.

In the final match, Northeast triumphed over Bent Street with a 5-4 victory in sudden death penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

In the third-place play-off, Sparta Boss decisively defeated Unstoppable 4-0, with Ryan Hackett scoring all four goals for his team.
