In a stunning turn of events at the National Gymnasium, underdogs North Ruimveldt delivered a shocking 1-0 victory over heavyweights Sparta Boss in the Bent Street ‘Champion of Champions’ Futsal Championship.
The decisive moment came in the second half when Tyrese Louis scored the match-winning goal.
His powerful strike slipped through the goalkeeper’s legs, securing North Ruimveldt’s advancement and leaving the crowd in disbelief.
The tournament continued with other thrilling encounters. Back Circle A dominated Street Vybz with a resounding 5-0 victory, fueled by a double from Bevney Marks in the 11th and 15th minutes.
Jermaine Beckles, Stephon McLean, and Ravin Naughton also found the back of the net to complete the rout.
Gold is Money maintained their impressive form, defeating Linden All-Stars 2-0 with goals from Andrew Murray in the eighth minute and Shamar Koulen in the 13th.
Meanwhile, North East La Penitence triumphed over Bent Street B, also with a 2-0 scoreline, courtesy of early strikes by Donte McAulay in the third minute and Kelvin Moore in the ninth.
The tournament offers a lucrative prize pool, with the champions set to receive $1 million and the championship trophy.
The second, third, and fourth-place teams will earn $500,000, $300,000, and $200,000, respectively, along with corresponding accolades.
Individual prizes will also be awarded for the highest goal scorer, most valuable player, best defender, and goalkeeper.
The action resumes on October 25 at the same venue as teams battle for futsal supremacy.
