St. Ignatius Village’s Noreen Alfred claimed the title of Miss Amerindian Heritage 2024 during a vibrant and competitive event at the National Cultural Centre, concluding this year’s Amerindian Heritage Month celebrations.
Ten delegates, each representing one of Guyana’s administrative regions, showcased their skills across a series of challenges that included Indigenous cooking, traditional attire, talent, and a question-and-answer segment.
The annual pageant, a hallmark of Amerindian Heritage Month, serves as a key platform to highlight and advocate for Indigenous issues and the preservation of cultural heritage.
As the newly crowned queen, Alfred will have the opportunity to champion projects aimed at supporting and promoting the rich cultural legacy of Guyana’s Indigenous peoples.
The Miss Amerindian Heritage Pageant stands as a significant celebration of Indigenous identity, uniting voices across the nation to honor Guyana’s First Peoples.
