President Irfaan Ali has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the working conditions of public servants, particularly teachers, urging patience amid ongoing strikes and emphasizing the need to avoid politicizing the issue.
Speaking at the opening of the Guyana Technical Training College Facility Simulator in Port Mourant, President Ali assured all categories of workers that the government is dedicated to incrementally improving their working conditions.
Addressing the ongoing illegal strike actions by some teachers, President Ali expressed concern that the movement appeared to be driven by political motives.
He urged educators not to allow themselves to be used as political pawns and emphasized the government’s commitment to their well-being.
President Ali highlighted the significant growth and development unfolding in the country, urging teachers not to resist but rather to embrace the positive changes on the horizon.
He emphasized that the country’s development trajectory promises substantial returns for all Guyanese.
The President assured that the government would ensure the best welfare package for teachers, noting that a comprehensive evaluation of workers across all categories would be conducted by the end of the year.
This evaluation aims to structure interventions that bring additional benefits to public servants. President Ali emphasized the importance of collective effort in the process of incremental development.
