NIS Commits to Enhanced Services and Efficiency

During the 54th anniversary celebration of the National Insurance Scheme (NIS), Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh announced that the scheme is implementing measures to improve customer service and data management.

He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for delays and unprofessional conduct in claims processing.

Ramesh Persaud, Chairman of the NIS Board, highlighted the significant progress the scheme has made over the years.

He revealed that the NIS handles approximately 12 to 13 thousand claims and 66 thousand payments each month.

Holly Greaves, General Manager of NIS, recognized the pivotal role the scheme plays in Guyanese society.

She pledged to enhance services through the implementation of technology, with a focus on data management and customer service.

Furthermore, the NIS will resume outreach efforts across the country to address unresolved claims and issues.

The anniversary celebration also included the recognition of 40 individuals for their long service, retirement, and bursary awards for children.

Established in 1969, the NIS is dedicated to developing and maintaining a Social Security system, offering pension and retirement plans, and ensuring that collected funds are invested to maximize the country’s economic benefit.
