NGOs Host Cancer Survivor Symposium in Observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, NGOs RECOVER Guyana and the Giving Hope Foundation will be hosting a Cancer Survivor Symposium.

The symposium, held under the theme “Life after Cancer, promoting sustainable living and green thinking,” aims to provide support and valuable information to cancer survivors.

The event will take place in the National Library’s Conference room on Saturday, October 7, from 8 am to 12 pm, accommodating up to 70 participants.

It will feature experts including psychologists, nutritionists, and medical oncologists, as well as representatives from RECOVER Guyana who will focus on sustainable living and green therapy.

Additionally, the two organizations will collaborate on a “Green Strong” initiative for patients at the Georgetown Public Hospital Oncology clinic.

This initiative will provide fruits and vegetables to promote healthy eating, along with kitchen garden start-up kits.

These kits are intended to create a space of solace for individuals in their cancer journey.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a global campaign dedicated to educating individuals about breast cancer, encouraging early detection, and empowering both women and men to take charge of their breast health.

It also serves as a platform for advocacy, fundraising, and support for breast cancer patients and survivors.
