New roundabouts to improve traffic flow & safety in Linden

-by Reycia Nedd

Motorists travelling through Linden will soon benefit from improved traffic circulation, with new roundabouts constructed at Millie’s Hideout and on both approaches to the new Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge.

The developments are expected to ease congestion, improve road safety and support smoother movement across the mining town.

As Linden’s road network undergoes major transformation, new roundabouts are being introduced to better manage traffic and improve connectivity.

The roundabouts, located at Millie’s Hideout and on the eastern and western approaches to the new Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge, are designed to regulate traffic entering and leaving key sections of the town.

They are also expected to reduce traffic conflicts at busy intersections and allow vehicles to move more efficiently, particularly as traffic volumes increase with the opening of the new bridge.

But while the infrastructure is in place, its success will depend on motorists knowing how to navigate the roundabouts safely.

To support this transition, the Ministry of Public Works has released an instructional video explaining the correct use of roundabouts, including how drivers should approach, enter and exit while remaining alert to pedestrians and other road users.

The new roundabouts form part of wider infrastructure improvements aimed at modernising Linden’s transportation network.

With the new Mackenzie/Wismar Bridge expected to transform movement between the two communities, authorities are placing greater emphasis on traffic management and road safety.

Motorists are being encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new road layouts, observe traffic signs and exercise caution to ensure safer and more efficient travel.
