A new primary school has been officially commissioned in Campbelltown, Region Eight, bringing much-needed educational opportunities closer to the community.

This modern facility, which currently accommodates 48 students in Grades One and Two, aims to provide quality education within the village, eliminating the need for students to travel long distances to attend school.

Before the commissioning of the new school, students in Campbelltown had to walk three miles to the nearest educational institution, a challenge that limited their access to education.

The opening of the primary school will greatly improve the educational experience for the children in this remote area.

At the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, outlined plans for further expansion of the school.

She announced that in the upcoming budget, provisions will be made to extend the school to include Grades Three to Six, ensuring that students can continue their education in the same location.

The Minister also highlighted other educational developments in the region, including the construction of a secondary school in Copenan and dormitory repairs in Paramakatoy.

These projects are part of a broader effort to enhance access to quality education across Region Eight.

Minister Manickchand reiterated the Ministry of Education’s commitment to ensuring that every child in Guyana, regardless of their location, has the resources and opportunities needed to succeed in life.
